Ch ch ch ch changes…

Changes.  Life’s FULL of ’em.  Why do we fear change as much as we do? I mean seriously, think about it. Yes, sometimes change sucks, but sometimes change is freaking awesome! I guess it just depends on what end of the stick you’re on.

Think about it. You’re miserable at your job. You hate your boss. The pay sucks, yet you stay. You freaking stay where you’re absolutely MISERABLE. Why in the hell would you do that to yourself?!  Why?  I’ll tell you why: because you’re comfortable.  Every time you say something to your boss, you know what the answer is going to be.  You know who’s stealing your sandwich out of the office lounge, you know who’s taking your stapler every damn day.  You just don’t fight it anymore because it’s a paycheck.  You’ve become so complacent  that you’re terrified you can’t do anything else.

Maybe you’re miserable in your relationship.  You are taken for granted on a daily basis, and your relationship has turned more into a brother/sister deal.  You’re not a partner, you’ve become a convenience.  You really want to quit smoking, but you really really don’t.  Well, you want to, but you can’t breathe, you feel like crap every time you start the quitting process, but you feel even worse when you’re smoking!
Well, ya know what?
You need to knock that shit off!
Why would you CHOOSE to be miserable? You could be so much happier if you just take a leap of faith on yourself for a change!

Changes are a necessary part of life.
Okay, so let’s say you’re scared shitless.   Paralyzed with fear at the thought of making a change.  Back to the “How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.”    Is it a job change you want to make?  Okay.  Start by just looking at papers to see if there’s anything available. Then, call a headhunter to see what you’re worth to a prospective employer.  Hopefully, that will put enough of a smile on your face to help you pull up your big girl panties to make that move to start interviewing!  You get the idea.

Is it your relationship? No, I’m not saying to go find another boyfriend or girlfriend while you’re still living with somebody, hell no! (Man you must really be looking to create havoc in your life if you’re even thinking that…) I could sit here and start getting into how to do that, but that’s the topic of a whole 4 or 10 more blog posts, LOL!  But again, even this can be broken down into smaller bites, starting to remove yourself from your situation.

But here’s the one thing you need to always always always remember:

You’re always one decision away from a totally different life!
Listen, I can sit back and give you a thousand ways to break a habit, change some big part of your life, but I can’t make that choice for you. You need to CHOOSE happiness. In case you were unaware guys, happiness is a CHOICE. YOU are in the driver’s seat. YOU determine whether your life is miserable and it’s going to stay that way, or you’re ready to make that change and CHOOSE to be happy.

Change will never happen in your life until you change something you do DAILY.

The secret of your success is found in your daily routine, and who you associate with.  Are you trying to quit drinking? Trying to quit smoking? Trying to quit some type of drug you might be using? If you’re hanging around with the same people partying all the time, you will never be able to make that break.  You will need to distance yourself from those people.

Making change by repetition.

It takes an average of seven times of doing something to create a new habit. If you make a concerted effort to change something every single day for 7 days in a row, chances are that you will be successful in making that change.  And remember, a mistake made more than once is a choice.  If you blow off two days in a row of those seven, you just chose not to do what you know damn well you needed to do to make that change.  That’s not on anybody but you.  YOU are in the driver’s seat.  YOU need to make the choice, and if you’re not successful, I don’t want to hear you bitching about it, not even once , unless it’s you saying you’re kicking yourself in the butt for blowing it.  You can DO this!!!
