Okay. So here we are shut down, in the middle of the Coronavirus pandemic. We are here in Jersey, where the Governor has shut us down to everything except what is absolutely essential. Yep, just about 24 hours now. Tons of people are out of work. I haven’t been able to get a roll of toilet paper for a week, not to mention a single package of raw chicken. What’s up with that??
(Oh, that’s right, one person sneezes and EVERYBODY shits…)
(AND Chicken Little ran as soon as he heard the sky was falling…)
I was in the middle of ShopRite trying to get food when the first news report came into my phone that the first positive case had turned up in the town I was shopping in. A day and a half later, again trying to get food, a positive case turned up two towns away. At this point, people are walking into ShopRite with rubber gloves and masks on, and of course I wasn’t one of them. And no, I don’t have it and I feel absolutely fine. I have a family to worry about. Which brings me to what I’m about to say.
I live at the Jersey Shore. Cases here are starting to pop up at an alarming rate, as it is in many places. BUT. There are tons of out-of-towners who own their summer homes down here. Many are in highly populated areas (where the virus is rampant) that are now not working due to the virus. And, as such, many came up with a bright idea: “Hey! We’re out of work for a while, let’s go to our beach house in Jersey! It’ll be a mini vacation!”
What does that mean? That means we have tons of potential carriers of the coronavirus, potentially infected people coming down to open up their summer homes. So what’s the big deal you ask? That means they need to go stock the food. We can’t even get food for ourselves! THE SHELVES ARE EMPTY. And it is reported that they complained about it when they got here, smh!!! WHAT THE HELL DID YOU EXPECT?!?!?!
They need to get supplies. Then they need to potentially go to a liquor store. AND they need to go get gas. All of them are out in public, potentially coughing, sneezing, breathing and touching products that I could be picking up 5 minutes later that are now contaminated.
AT THE END OF THE DAY, 2 POSITIVE CORONAVIRUS CASES IN ATLANTIC COUNTY AND ONE POSITIVE CORONAVIRUS CASE IN CAPE MAY COUNTY, OUR FIRST CASES, ALL CAME FROM OUT OF AREA VISITORS!!!!!
I went to put gas in my vehicle the other day, handed my card to the attendant who proceeded to sniffle and wipe his nose after he took my card. Thanking God that I had a package of Lysol wipes in my vehicle, I disinfected everything from my card to my steering wheel as soon as he handed it back.
People, it doesn’t matter if the attendant wasn’t sick. He is taking credit cards all day long from people that may have already coughed or sneezed and not washed their hands that are handing him their infected credit cards. How about food shopping? People are handling money all day long. That’s how this will spread. It’s just that simple…
So what am I saying?
SHOOBIES, GO THE F*** HOME! STAY THE F*** HOME! KEEP YOUR CORONAVIRUS COOTIES TO YOURSELF! THE GOVERNOR WENT ON TV TO TELL YOU THE SAME DAMN THING! STAY THE HELL ON YOUR SIDE!!!
And please, don’t you dare hand me that load of crap that you pay taxes on it so you deserve to come down and stay. It’s freaking March and you would never be down here this time of year anyway! An average high of 50°, you are not coming down to lay on the beach! It’s 45° as I’m writing this! If it’s 45°, the wind on the beach will make it feel like it’s 35°.
An article that just came out about 20 minutes ago that said the doctors from New Orleans are noticing a distinct pattern with this. You could have nothing more than a headache, or a slight cough, thinking you’re absolutely fine and it doesn’t kick in for about a week. Then it floors you, possibly putting you in the hospital. They’re calling it “Coronavirus Slow Burn,” check out the article here. You could have it and not even know it. And by the time you do know it when it finally does kick in, you’ve already potentially infected dozens of people.
People, this isn’t summer vacation, this is a PANDEMIC. WE are supposed to be confined to our homes for a reason, just like YOU are supposed to be confined to yours. And please, DON’T say that being confined to your house is the same as being confined to your summer house because it’s not. Your area is rampant with the virus, ours is not.
And don’t you dare say we’re all going to get it anyway, speak for your damn self! There’s a reason our numbers are as low as they are and yours are as high as they are! And you coming down here? It’s so goddamn selfish it’s not even funny. The positive cases of coronavirus in New Jersey spiked 49% today. We are confined to our homes so that we DON’T turn into your area. We are trying not to have a spike, and you are potentially putting us at risk. You are potentially putting OUR families at risk for your own enjoyment. Don’t. Just don’t. Stay where the f*** you are, like the rest of us…
