11 minutes ago, Weinstein was booked at Rikers Island Jail in NY. He is now known as New York state ID: 06581138Z. Weinstein’s attorneys have requested that he be assigned to the North Infirmary Unit, citing that he is in poor health. He is listed as 5’11” and 210 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.
Today, justice was served. Harvey Weinstein has FINALLY had his fall from grace, and no amount of money could buy a juror’s vote…
Weinstein was found guilty on 2 out of 5 charges against him. He was found guilty of rape and felony sex crime, but managed to escape the most serious of the charges, which was predatory sexual assault.
Manhattan DA Cyrus Vance made one hell of a speech after it was all over… Listen….
Gloria Allred brought her own can of whoop ass. She had a heated exchange with the Arthur Aidala outside the building after it was all over, saying, “You will not silence me again.” Aidala then replied, “Alright, so then you guys aren’t going to hear from us,” and walked off.
Weinstein still faces charges in California from 2 other incidences. It is unknown how they are going to handle the extradition for those court trials due to his incarceration.
So now the case moves to Los Angeles. Weinstein has been charged with four counts of sexual assault in Los Angeles County, stemming from accusations brought by a pair of women who say the movie mogul attacked them in hotels in Los Angeles and Beverly Hills in 2013. These incidences actually happened one day apart.
Last month, L.A. County DA Jackie Lacey filed charges of forcible rape, forcible oral copulation, sexual penetration by use of restraint and sexual battery by restraint. In an unusual move on their part, these charges were filed the night before Weinstein’s NY trial. So he hasn’t even appeared in L.A. yet on those charges.
At least some justice was served today. How he wasn’t found guilty on all counts escapes me. With the unbelievably long line of accusers, testimony, his past history, all of these stories corroborating with each other… And even more accusers lined up! At the same time, these fantastic attorneys managed to convict him based on testimony alone, no physical evidence. Today’s outcome will change the way rape accusations will be handled from here on in. We can only hope that the accusers in Los Angeles are able to bring him to justice as well. He’s in jail now, and hopefully he will be for a VERY long time…
